PTM Terms of Service
Effective November 1, 2026. Version 3.
In short (a summary, not part of the agreement; the sections below are what counts): PTM is made by Project Time Machines, LLC, in New York. What you put in PTM is yours. PTM Pro and credits are sold through Google Play. The Project Agent is an AI, for adults: it can be wrong, it is not a lawyer, doctor or financial adviser, and you decide what to do with what it says. Deleting your account erases everything in it, credits included. Our liability to you is limited. New York law applies and disputes go to New York courts.
1. Who we are, and agreeing to these terms
PTM (Project Time Machines) is an app for tracking the time you put into a project and seeing when you will finish it. It is made by Project Time Machines, LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we", "us", "our"). These terms are the agreement between you and us about PTM: the app, our servers, the Project Agent and our related web pages (together, "PTM").
You agree to these terms by tapping I agree where PTM shows them, by creating an account, or by using PTM. If you do not agree, do not use PTM. Our Privacy Policy, at https://projecttimemachines.com/app/privacy-policy.html, explains what information we collect and how we use it. It is part of these terms.
Ages. PTM is not for children under 13. If you are 13 to 17, you may use the free app only if a parent or guardian has read these terms and agrees to them for you. PTM Pro and the Project Agent are for adults: you must be 18 or over to subscribe, to buy credits or to use the Project Agent.
If you use PTM for a business or an organization, you confirm that you are allowed to agree for it, and "you" means both you and it.
2. Your account
You can use PTM as a guest or with an account (an email address and a password, or your Google sign-in). A guest's projects are kept under a temporary account tied to your phone: if you sign out, remove the app or lose the phone before you create an account, that work cannot be recovered. PTM Pro, credits and the Project Agent need a signed-in account.
Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else is using it.
Give us an email address that works. We use it to sign you in, to reset your password and to tell you about changes to these terms and to PTM. The Privacy Policy explains any other email we send and how to stop it.
3. PTM Pro
PTM is free to use. PTM Pro is a paid subscription that adds features: today, the Pro-Adjusted Goal Date, True Pace, and the Project Agent with the credits it runs on. The current list is shown in the app and on Google Play.
- Pro is sold through Google Play, which takes your payment. We never see your card details. Google Play's terms cover billing, renewal and cancellation alongside these terms.
- Pro renews automatically, monthly or yearly as you chose, until you cancel it in Google Play (Play Store, Payments and subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. We do not refund the rest of a period you cancel part-way through, unless the law where you live requires it.
- A free trial, where offered, runs through Google Play. Cancel before it ends and you are not charged. One trial per person.
- Prices are shown in Google Play, in your currency, before you buy. We may change prices. A change applies from your next renewal, and Google Play tells you before it does and asks for your agreement where the law requires it.
- We may give Pro, or credits, free to testers and others. A free grant can end at any time, and nothing is owed when it does.
- If Pro ends, your projects, Ops and Operations Boards stay in your account and the free features keep working. The Pro-only figures stop showing and the Project Agent stops.
Refunds for Pro. Google Play can refund a purchase within 48 hours of it; ask there first. After that, email us at [email protected] with the order number from your Google Play receipt and tell us what went wrong. We decide fairly, case by case, and pay any refund back through Google Play.
4. Credits
The Project Agent runs on credits. Each reply, Operations Board or Project Material it makes uses credits in proportion to the computing cost of making it, so a long or complex request uses more than a short one. Opening a chat, and a request that fails, use none. The app shows how many credits you have left.
- Monthly credits come with Pro. A new month's credits arrive on the 1st of each month at midnight UTC (the evening of the last day of the month in the United States). Unused monthly credits do not carry over.
- Bought credits are sold in packs through Google Play. They do not expire while your account exists, and your monthly credits are used before them.
- The Project Agent is part of PTM Pro. If your Pro ends, your bought credits stay in your account, but you cannot use them until Pro is active again.
- Credits are a license to use the Project Agent, not money. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account or person, and cannot be exchanged for money except where these terms or the law say so.
- When you have no credits left, the Project Agent stops until the next monthly reset or until you buy more. The rest of PTM keeps working. Even with credits, we may limit how many messages the Project Agent answers in a day, so that it keeps working for everyone.
- If Google Play refunds or reverses a credit purchase, we remove the credits from that purchase that you have not yet used. Credits you had already used are not taken back.
- Deleting your account erases its credits, bought ones included, and they are not refunded.
- What a credit buys depends on what our AI provider charges us. We may change the number of credits that come with Pro, the price of a pack, or how many credits a request uses. If we lower the monthly allowance or change what a credit is worth, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
Refunds for credits work the same way as refunds for Pro: Google Play within 48 hours, then email us. If we stop offering PTM, section 9 says what happens to bought credits you have not used.
5. The Project Agent is an AI
The Project Agent is a software assistant powered by artificial intelligence (today, an AI model made by Anthropic). It plans a project with you, builds and changes your Operations Board when you tell it to, answers questions about your project, keeps notes, writes things you ask for, researches questions on the web, and makes Project Materials (pages such as a timetable or a checklist).
- It can be wrong. Its estimates, answers and writing can contain mistakes and invented facts, and can state views that are not ours. Do not rely on anything it says about facts without checking it yourself. No human reviews its replies before you see them.
- It is not a professional. Nothing it says is legal, medical, mental-health, financial, tax or safety advice. For decisions in those areas, talk to a qualified person.
- You decide. It asks before changing your Operations Board, and anything it puts on your board or in your notes is yours to change or remove. You are responsible for what you do with its output, including anything you share with others.
- It is for your project, not for graded schoolwork. It is set up to help you learn and check your own work, not to write essays, assignments or exam answers for you to hand in as your own. Do not use it that way, and do not try to get around that.
- What it sees. To reply, it is sent what you type, the earlier messages in that chat, and the parts of your project it needs, such as the project's name, goal and Goal Date, your Operations Board, your recent Ops and your notes. Anthropic processes this for us under its business terms, does not use it to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days unless it has been flagged for misuse. The Privacy Policy has the details.
- It is not always on. We may limit how much it is used, change what it can do, or turn it off, to keep PTM working and affordable. Credits are not charged for a request it does not answer.
6. Your content, and ours
Your content is yours. Your projects, Ops, Operations Boards, notes, chats, and the Project Materials and other output the Project Agent makes for you, belong to you as far as the law allows. (The Project Agent may produce the same or similar output for someone else who asks for the same thing; that is not a breach of these terms.) You give us permission to store, copy, process, send and display your content as needed to run PTM for you, to keep it safe and to improve PTM, including sending it to the service providers named in the Privacy Policy. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups and copies we must keep by law (the Privacy Policy says for how long).
You are responsible for your content. Only put into PTM what you have the right to use, and nothing that breaks the rules in section 7.
What we do and do not do with it. We do not sell your content. We do not use it to train AI models and do not let anyone else do so. We do not show it to other users. We collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to run and improve PTM; the Privacy Policy explains them. If you send a bug report or feedback through the app, we may read it, keep it and use it to fix and improve PTM. Any idea or suggestion you give us is ours to use without owing you anything.
PTM is ours. The app, its design, its code and its names (Project Time Machines, PTM, Operations Board, Project Agent, Pro-Adjusted Goal Date and the others) belong to us or to those who license them to us. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use PTM on devices you own or control, under these terms. Do not copy, change, sell, rent, lend or distribute PTM, or remove our notices from it.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- get into, or try to get into, another person's account or data;
- attack, overload, probe or reverse engineer PTM or its servers, or get around its limits, credits or security;
- use scripts, bots or other automation to operate PTM or the Project Agent, or to copy data out of it;
- ask the Project Agent to make content that is illegal, that sexualizes minors, that harasses or threatens anyone, that helps make weapons or malicious software, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- resell PTM, the Project Agent or its output as a service of your own, or let other people use your account;
- present the Project Agent's output to others as the work or advice of a human professional.
If an account breaks these rules or these terms, we may limit the Project Agent for it, remove content, or suspend or close the account. Where the harm looks urgent we may act without notice; otherwise we try to tell you why first. No refund is owed for Pro time or credits lost because of a suspension for breaking these rules. We may report illegal activity to the authorities.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time. In the app (version 2.0 and later): Projects screen, menu, Delete account. Older versions of the app cannot delete an account (where they show Delete account, it only signs you out), so email us instead: write from your account's email address and we will delete the account within 30 days. Deleting erases your account and everything in it: projects, Ops, Operations Boards, chats, notes, Project Materials and credits. It cannot be undone. The Privacy Policy says how long deleted data can remain in our backups and logs, and names the two things an in-app delete does not remove (a mailing-list subscription and bug reports you sent us) and how to have them removed.
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account. Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription: cancel that in Google Play, or Google keeps charging you.
9. Changes to PTM, and ending the service
We may change PTM: add, change or remove features, including Pro features and what the Project Agent does. If you do not like a change, you can cancel Pro in Google Play and keep using the free app.
We may stop offering PTM altogether. If we do, we will give at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email and, where we reasonably can, a way to get your data out. We will refund the unused part of any Pro period you have paid for and any bought credits you have not used.
10. Disclaimers and limits on liability
No warranty. PTM is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it running and accurate, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that your data will never be lost (keep your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose), or that its dates, paces, estimates or the Project Agent's output will be right. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
Limit of liability. To the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost time or missed deadlines, however caused; and our total liability for all claims relating to PTM is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and $50.
These limits do not apply to liability that the law does not let us limit, such as liability for our own fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
11. Disputes
Talk to us first. Email [email protected] and describe the problem. We will try to resolve it with you within 30 days before either side goes to court.
New York law and courts. New York law governs these terms and any dispute about PTM, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any lawsuit must be brought in the state or federal courts in the State of New York, and both of us agree to those courts. Two exceptions: you may bring a claim in the small claims court where you live, and either of us may ask any court for an order to stop misuse of PTM or of our intellectual property. If you live outside the United States and your local law gives you rights, or a home court, that these terms cannot take away, you keep them.
12. Changes to these terms, and other terms
Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. For a change that matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and the new version will show its date. Using PTM after that date means you accept the new terms. If you do not, stop using PTM and, if you have Pro, cancel it before the change takes effect. We may also ask you to tap I agree again. The current version is always at https://projecttimemachines.com/app/terms.html.
Other terms. These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about PTM and replace anything earlier. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, that part is applied as far as it can be and the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer this agreement to anyone else. We may transfer it to a successor that takes on our obligations, for example if the company is sold, and we will tell you if we do. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, including outages at Google or Anthropic. Sections 4 (credits are not money), 6, 7, 10, 11 and 12 continue to apply after your account ends. Google and Anthropic are not parties to these terms.
